need help with my door locks 04 LC

I'm obviously new to this forum...and new to the LC/LX arena. I was reading my manual trying to figure out how to change my door locks so they unlock when I put the shifter in Park.

The manuel says:

Put the parking brake on,
Turn the key to the ON position, put it in P (assuming they mean PARK)
Then to N (assuming they mean neutral)
Hold the back of the door lock on the driver's side (assuming they mean the Door lock switch on the driver's side door)...
All within 10 seconds of turning the key to the ON position.

Well, it doesn' t work. Either I'm drunk or the directions are clear on what they want me to do. Has anyone else had any luck on doing this.

Normally I wouldn't care if the doors stayed locked when I turned off the ignition since I have a new baby in the back I have to remember to unlock all the doors before I get out so I can open the back door. I would rather all the doors unlock when I put it in PARK. Thanks for the help! I'm going to drink another beer and anxiously await a reply!

I've heard people with 4runners talk about the programming. They couldn't get it to work at first, but it turned out that their timing was off. You have to do the timing right. And if you want to change a setting once it is reprogrammed, you have to program it back to default first. I would say, give these instructions a few more tries. Just be quick when you are doing it.

I had problems getting my door locks to re-program. I know it's a different model (03 4Runner) but maybe it will help you figure yours out.

This is from another 4R owner:
I wanted to choose option (B):
All the side doors and back door are automatically unlocked when the automatic transmission selector in moved to the "P" position with the ingnition switch in the "ON" position.

The Manual says:

1.) close all the side doors and back door
2.) Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position
3.)within 3 seconds after the switch is turned to the "ON" positon; pucsh and hold the rear of the power door lock switch for 5 seconds with the automatic transmission selector in the "P" position.

I did this several times with no success.

Then I read the manual again...

On the same page in a later paragraph it said;
All the side doors and back door automatically lock and unlock when you release the power door lock switch. This indicates the function is set. If all the side doors and back door do not loack and unlock, the time the switch was held may be too long or too short. Perform the procedure over again.

Anyway, I tried it again (being more careful to hold it down for the prescribed 5 seconds) and it worked.

Okay, first thanks for the quick help...I got it to work. Maybe I didn't take the directions literally like they are written, but you're supposed to let GO of the door lock after 5 seconds. I was just holding the door lock down, waiting for them to lock then unlock, signaling that the mode took.

Anyway, held the door lock for the count of 5, let go, then they locked and unlocked...ahhhh life is back to being easy again. Thanks for the help guys and errr gals.

would this work for an '00

anyone know if this will work for an '00 land cruiser or '00 4 runner? looked thru both manuals and see nothing.... and tried the above instructions and nothing (could just be user error thou).

i assume there are some factory settings that can be changed. my wife's 4 runner beeps when the doors are locked & unlocked, but my cruiser doesnt - its nice to not to have to stare at the lights to see if they flash & the doors lock when walking away from the truck.

Nope, a 2000 doesn't have that level of programability. I don't know about the 4runner.

Coastal, I'd like to say that it will work on a 2000 Land Cruiser. I just programmed my 05 the same way.

I seriously doubt it will work on a 2000 Runner though. You might want to try www.Yotatech.com. Theres a wealth of knowledge there, mainly 4Runners of every Generation. I'll bet you'd find that answer there!

FYI: I checked out the programming details for a Lexus blah, blah, blah 300 (car) and found that the door programming codes are way different than any Yoter I've ever owned. Maybe it's determined by the model and not the entry system. Any thoughts?

Bueller?

Doug

Ultra - appretiate the tip, I will check out that web site. There has to be a way to set the alarm to beep or honk when the doors lock on my '00 cruiser.

Bumping this back up to the top. Is it possible to completely disable the automatic lock feature? It drives my dad (his 100) absolutely nuts and me too when I drive it.

If not, I guess we'll settle for the mod above, but I'd really like the truck to just leave the doors unlocked when you put it in gear.

I've got the opposite problem. I'd love it if the doors automatically lock when I put the 100 LC in gear. Perhaps someone disabled this feature on mine. I'd love to reconfigure it!

Anyone have any ideas?
