Lumbar Support

Did a quick search to no avail. Having problems w/ my lumbar supp. motor in my driver seat. I know it is minor but I like to keep up w/ minor things as they happen. Had the seat-back off and watched it function. It seems very weak and not powerful enough to move the metal push bar foward much. It appears one has to remove the leather and cushion on the side bolster to access motor. Am I wasting my time and yours? Or has anyone made an attempt at this?

Thanks,

-Mark

Slightly off topic but since you said you took your seat back off I thought I'd ask. My driver's seat in my 2000 has begun making an annoying clicking /clunking noise. The noise comes from the base of the seat back when accelerating or decelerating. It feels almost as if the seat back is "lose" and there is play in the mechanism. How do you access the fasteners holding the seat together?

Hi Peter,
The plastic panel with the cargo net on the back of the seat has 2 fasteners at the top of it approx 1-2" in from the corners. I wrapped tape around a flat screwdriver (per my FSM) to unhook the fasteners. It took some patient studying though as we all know how fasteners tend to break when undone. Once you unfasten the two clips, the panel lifts up and off. This gives good access but I am not sure it is where your problem is. If you want I can try to get you the page in the FSM by photo or fax.
