new hundy member intro

HI Guys,

I purchased this 2000 LX470 from another mudder in Atlanta recently. The truck is set up nicely. I have taken off of the Mickey Thompson MTZ's and replaced them with Toyo Open Country AT's... wifey is much happier. I have a set of 33" Interco's Truxxs MT"s that I will mount on a different set of Rims and swap when necessary.

My previous rig was an 80 series and I sold that recently to a fellow mudder. I can't believe the difference in comfort, compared to the 80 series... what difference a few years of technology makes! I have wheeled with some of you in the past (Loud LX and Macneil) and look forward to meeting many of you!

now on to the tech.... I used the Milemarker winch today to yank some bushes out of the front yard and was impressed!

Welcome to the light!

You could always drop the comfort bomb in the 80 section, just for giggles...

sorry... I don't have them as I was happy to give those tires away with my 80. They were pretty new... maybe 90% treadlife left. I have never heard road noise/vibration from any tire like that ever... even from my Interco's!

I could... but I really miss my 80 I am having this strange vision of a "welcome back" thread in the 80 section! There is no way that I would ever trade this 100 for any 80, though.

Dropped the bomb last night to wifey.... "I might sell my Acura and look for an 80 for a DD" (30 mile daily commute each way).

The MTZ's were definitely the loudest tires I have ever encountered on a vehicle. I am not sure why, but if you look at the tread pattern on these tires, there is a large portion of the tread in the middle. These tires could have been wearing uneven (possibly from over inflation?), but appeared to be wearing normal. Going down the road, it was like I was driving on a metal grated bridge, up until about 50 mph. At low speeds, it was just about unbearable. My Interco's are the Trxus MT's and have never been as noisy as the Mickey Thompson's. My experience with the Trxus has been great and they have far exceeded my expectations.

No... the Interco Trxus MT's are just slightly more noisy than my Toyo Open Country AT's. Road noise was minimal on my 80... don't have a 2nd set of rims for my LX yet.

The Trxus were a bugger to balance, though, as they are 285 75 16 LOAD E. My last tire guy said he had never seen a 6" tire weight before... the the Trxus had them on the inside and outside of the tire! In comparison the the Mickey Thompson's, which required little weight to balance.

Welcome. Nice looking truck. I like the all white look, too bad my wife doesn't. (no, I am not whipped... ok, maybe a little.)
