LX470 Power Mirror Problem

Hey guys, Happy New Year everyone!

I have a 2000 LX 470. The power mirrors on it quit working properly. They will retract when I put it in garage, but will not swing back out when I take it out.

Is this a common problem for these trucks? I can hear something clicking inside the mirror housing when I press the button. I also know that there is a controller for them behind glove box.

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

I end up getting out and swinging them out manually. The power mirrors are not cheap, I think they are about $600 a piece, so I'd rather fix it.

Thanks,

Serge

Garage
get a long poll and push them out

nah, but I think the gears may think its in the opposite position. for exampe, you say they "click", well when there folded in, the gears may be sitting on the outward position. and when you go to fold them out. the gears/computer thinks its already out. if not. some gears may be striped.

If the gears were stripped they would not close either, so it's not the gears. The sound is more akin to what relays sound like. I am curious to find out if it's a problem with the control module or the mirrors themselves.

Usually it is the mirrors, I have had several replaced under warranty. Not sure what I will do when they act up now that I am out of warranty. My problems were with the reverse auto down/up function.

When I get fed up I will take them apart and see if I can fix them. If not I will try to source used ones.

My reverse/auto down mirror quit working a bit ago. Would love to have it back, but can't justify spending serious money on it. Anyone fix one before?

Try this: Move the mirror adjustment switch to either side. Now put your car in reverse, and it should work.
