Success in Changing Both Pre-cat O2 Sensors

I know this is a minor repair, but can you believe the dealership wanted over $700 to change both my pre-cat O2 sensors after the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) / Check engine Light went on?

Time spent was well worth the $500 saved.

Finished doing a write-up on it:

Thanks,

Thanks for the comments, guys.

It is a minor job, perhaps just a bit more complicated than changing spark plugs... But I was dumbfounded at how a few hours of my time (including ordering the oxygen sensor, buying the OBD2 reader, etc.) could equal about $500. Around $500/3 hours = $166/hr net.

I wish my hourly wage was equivalent to that.

they give you worse case estimates. Some people come in and their O2 sensor snaps off and they have to drill it out.....

Nice writeup. Did this myself today. I was able to avoid buying the 22mm crowsfoot by using a normal wrench and reaching through from the wheel well.

Actually, I tried to buy the 22mm crowsfoot wrench, but the guy on the snap on truck didn't stock it!

Thumbs up Thanks

Thanks, congratulations, and I'm envious about your access to a snap on truck!
