Broken Key

My key from my '98 LC snapped off at the base. What parts do I need to save to install into the new shell? What's the best place to get a new key? What's the average cost for a replacement? Id there anything else I should be aware of?

You can get a new shell and key blank off Ebay. I'd suggest taking the key in to someone good like a locksmith to have it cut since it's broken. I think the empty shells on Ebay are $20 or so. then you just take the guts from your old one and put it in the new one. Replace the battery while you're doing it.

I just did this a couple weeks ago. I found two sellers on ebay (names escape me now) and bought a shell and a transponder key. They showed up a couple days later and I had them cut at a locksmith. Total cost was less than $20 each.

When you reassemble the key use a little loctite (blue) on the screw.
