Brake pad indicator location

hey guys, i need your help.... it's time to change my front and rear brake pads.. my old pads weren't oem.. i just bought a pair of pads and anti-squeal shim for the front and rear from the dealership.. my old brake pads didn't have brake pad indicators, does the indicators go on top or bottom of the pads? and does it go inner or outer brake pads? thanks...

IIRC it clips to the side so that when it wears down enough it squeals on the rotor.

I can't remember my front pads having the clips. There are some clips I installed, but I only remember on the rear pads. Everything you need (clips) come with the shim kit. The OEM pads have a wear slot in the center of the pad. When you get to near the bottom of the slot, it's time to replace them. Remember that pads have less heat dissipating ability when they are thin, so your rotors will get hotter, meaning they are more prone to developing an uneven pad residue on the surface.
