I used the following product to add iPod connectivity to my '01 factory radio:

USA Spec iPod® Interface
Connects your iPod to select 1998-up Toyota, Scion, Lexus, Honda, and Isuzu factory radios

thanks topmounter, man that seems pretty involved for just a connection to the radio, but i will call the people at crutchfield , actually i don't even care about the mp3 part of the iphone i just like the aol radio tuner and all radio tuner (thousands of internet stations worldwide) that is available via the iphone 3G , by the way satellite radio and even HD radio days are counted...!!
internet radio is the future.
Erick.

Actually there is nothing much involved about it. There is a big socket in the back of the radio for remote disc changer (even if you have an internal disc changer). All of the ipod/mp3/satellite radio interfaces plug into it and are controlled through your cd functions on the radio itself. It really is a "plug-n-play" system and takes about a half hour max to install. They even sell cheaper versions at Pep Boys.

Is there a device like this available so a Sirius could be connected directly to the factory stereo? The volume and quality of sound loss in the FM transmitter is really bad.

thanks

The USA Spec interface I linked to above has both an iPod connector as well as an axillary jack for non-iPod devices. I'm using it with the factory in-dash CD changer and I don't lose the changer functionality (not sure about the console changer though).

I had satellite radio for a while and it was awful. I'll keep loading music and podcasts on my iPod until someone can deliver anytime / anywhere "iPod in the cloud" capability.

My Ice-Link unit plugs into the stereo and includes another plug to receive another device, like satellite radio. I don't have satellite radio, so I don't know what's on the market, but my understanding is that you can get plug in units.
