Diesel 100 Series alarm system HELP

Guys,

I have a friend from Spain who is going cross country on his Diesel 100 Series.
Right now he's stuck in Flagstaff, AZ. To make a long story short, his starter caught fire and had to tow the truck to a mechanic. He left the truck in Flagstaff and went to Vegas while the truck was being repaired.

The mechanic was able to rebuild the starter. However, the mechanic working on the rig can't get the truck started because the alarm system keeps beeping.
Tomorrow, they'll take another hack at it. But it seems that at the root of the problem is the alarm system.

Any ideas on how to disable the alarm system?

My friend speaks very little English and I'm here working as an interpreter between him and the mechanic. Any local Cruiserheads with intimate 100 Series alarm system knowledge in the area?

Regards

Alvaro

OEM alarms differ in every part of the world, mine has a single button fob to push to open the doors, which disables the alarm. If you use the key to open the door, I can still start it but the hazards continue to flash as you drive down the road. Is it a turbo diesel or naturally aspirrated? To remove the alarm, it is a simple matter of unplugging the alarm module under the bonnet. 2 connectors to remove IIRC. That is the alarm function. The immobiliser which is built in is another story. If he can get IGN on, can the starter turn over?

The engine on this thing is a 1HD FTE.
The engine does turn, but it does not start up.

When this happened to a friend of mine's 2UZ (petrol 100) we were able to reprogram the key to ECU. However in some of the cases Toyota has replaced (no-charge for the parts one tiime only) the entire ECU.

100TD: Is the procedure for reprogramming/programming the key to the ECU the same for diesel/non-diesel 100's?

Alvaro: You might also have them try, assuming they haven't already of course, disconnecting the battery for 30-minutes to reset the ECU's. This will not be a substitute for the key reprogram/program sequence but its worth a try.
