Door Speaker Grill Cloth Replacement

Has anyone had experience replacing their door speaker grill cloth with material that is the same or close to OEM?

When I installed the MB Quarts I took the grills off and hosed them out. They are not perfect, but they are a lot better than before.

If yours are torn, that's another story.

Good luck

The speaker cloth and plastic frame backing are available from Toyota. I just ordered a couple to replace the ripped fronts...they're in the garage waiting for me .

The cloth is stretched across a plastic frame/grille that snaps into the opening on the door panel.

I thought you had to remove the speaker cover from the INSIDE (i.e., remove the door panel) on the LX?

I don't know about the LX but you need to remove the door panel to gain access to the screws that hold the speaker 'grill' in place on the LC.

You do. I think they snap/screw in, but they are removable.

FWIW-getting the door panel off is a PITA. That little clip under the arm rest cover is a beotch.

Actually, the door panel does not have to be removed to replace the speaker grill.

Bought a replacement grill from Toyota ($41). By removing the 4 screws along the bottom edge of the panel, the 3 push in clips and the front/lower capped screw, there is enough room to gain access to the back of the speaker grill. It is secured with 4 Phillips screws (2 of which are longer than the other 2). It's a tight fit (at least with my big hands) but the job can be done with a stubby Phillips. Be careful not to damage the speaker itself.
