Headliner Replacement

Have any of you guys had your headliner replaced for any reason? I have an issue where the fabric suroof slider works its way forward (about 1/3 to 1/2 way) on hard stops or for example, when doing light off-roading with frequent short stops, etc. I realize this is purely a cosmetic issue, but it does sort of irk me that this is something I have to deal with in a relatively new vehicle of this price range. I have noticed that when the slider is closed, there is a gap or sag between the slider and the headliner (maybe 1/2 inch or so and more so in the middle of the opening - you can stick your finger in and feel the track) which is probably the culprit - my wifes GX is flush all the way around. Since I am at 33K miles and approaching the warranty expiration, I left it at the dealer the other day and they have ordered a new headliner - they basically said that was the only way to remedy the issue without causing further damage to the existing headliner

I am concerned with all of the trim pieces (sun visors, vanity lights, dome light, air vents, etc.) that replacing the headliner will cause more harm (rattles and ticks) than its worth, but maybe its easier than I think. Dealer said its an all day project, which worries me. I think Crusrdug had his done (a couple of times), but wonder how easy of a job it is or if anyone has some advice otherwise. I know a lot of this depends on the experience of the installer, but not having seen there work leaves me a little nervous. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks guys.

mine slides forward on hard stops too, I believe that is common. The gap however is not related to the sliding, thats just something else. If it is under warranty I suggest having them do it, maybe speak with the tech before and after his job to make sure you feel comfortable with the work performed.

I've had a mine a part a couple of times for electornics install. It is very well designed. Not a lot of plastic clips to deal with that wear out with removal and installation. I wouldn't hesitate to do this if it was under warranty.
