Stock Spare Carrier
My spare was stolen from my 1999. Are the spare tire carriers the same for all Toy trucks? I was hoping to go to the salvage yard and pick one up, and not have to order one. Thanks.

Anybody know if the post '03 spare tire carriers use a metal chain rather than cable?
I might have a crossmember for sale but shipping would be killer.

I have an 05. The spare tire carrier on my truck uses a cable for the hoist.

Thanks for the responses.
I was able to pick up a spare from a fellow MUD member. I would just need the housing and cable. I know this probably goes in "parts wanted" but just wanted to see if the Tacoma or Tundras had the same set up in 1999. Thanks.

Wait, somebody stole your spare, housing and cable? You sure it didn't break off?
#3 retails for $116. Of course, less costly through Sincity or Dan.

I'm in Austin every two to three weeks and may be willing to part with my cross member/tire carrier out of my 2000 100. I'm in the process of building a swing out rear tire carrier for my Slee rear bumper and will no longer need that thing... I would have to figure out how to get it on the plane, but it could be as easy as checking it in as luggage. American Airlines now charges $15 per check in piece and thats all the shipping you would have to pay.

Thanks for your input Hoser... they cut the cable/chain to get the tire off, so I just assumed that the whole assembly would be needed (housing, chain, end piece)...

For clarification, you are only needing "part #3" in the attached picture correct?

Darrell, I have a 60 series version of #3 that you're welcome to have if you can make it work. I'm in Round Rock. Alternatively, the one on my 100 will be available shortly, I have a bumper with a swingout on order and I won't be needing it anymore.

Darrell,
I sent you a PM. I will have this part for you in Austin next Tuesday. If we don't get the chance to meet, I will have the front desk at the hotel hold it behind the counter and you can pick it up from them. Details are in my PM. Don't worry about paying me anything for it!
