help with rusty windshield frame

my '98 with 185K has a big rust problem around the windshield (welcome to Minnesota). The glass guy removed the cracked windshield last night and I want to clean it up before he puts a new replacement in. I have removed all the loose rust (it has rusted through the metal in 2 spots). I am thinking of using Rust Bullet because it will cover both the rusted and non-rusted sections of the frame. Has anyone used this stuff and what are your thoughts?

I would definitely go with a chemical converter to try and get all that you can. The 40, 60, and 80s forums will have good rust fighting info.

I've used POR15 with mixed results. If it's covered under the chrome strips it may do well, the stuff I did didn't fare well in direct sunlight.

I'm a MN native. I remember the pain.
I'll never go back because of the rust.
If you had your windshield replaced in the past, I'd bet the technician scratched through the paint around your windshield frame when they cut the sealant. If not, salt sucks anyway.
I was dismayed and fortunate to discover that on my 100 when I correctly re-installed the trim on the A-pillars.
Thankfully, I now live in CA.
I cleaned up the rust, spot primed and touched it up.
Good luck with you rust problems!
