Used Tire/wheel deal--opinions please

I can buy 4 new wheels (just as came on my 00 LX 470) that have been painted/clear coated and have not a mark on them, along with Michelin LTX tires that have 8mm of tread on 2 and 7mm on the other two, presumably from front/rear. I haven't seen them yet, but it'd be $450 for all 4. Only question is how long they've been stored and is there dryrotting. Any help on this decision? Or anyone know how much tread on a new LTX?

Thanks in advance. Trying to save a few bucks where I can...

Seems high to me. The tires will probably need to be replaced.

Thanks. And I'd be buying them for the tires. My wheels are fine, so don't need another set. Would love to join the black tire club, buy I have a white/pearl 2000, so don't think it'd fly.

Also, per Michelin site, about 9.5mm for new ones, so they do have a lot of tread left. Only problem is the guy doesn't know the age.

if you can inspect them, there is a way to tell when they were manufactured, there should be an oval at the end of the line of numbers on the tire that will have (hopefully) four numbers in them, the first two are the week it was produced and the last two are the year it was produced. so 4004 would be the 40th week of 04, if it has something like 404, that is the 40th week of 1994. Also as I remember it may only be on one side of the tire so check both sides

hope this helps

New tires generally have ~15/32" of tread, so that's 12mm.

Thanks, Trunk. Per this, 12/32, or 3/8,
LTX® M/S: Browse Tires in Light Truck: Michelin Tires: Michelin Tires

So michelin is screwing us 100 owners???!!!!

The only 4 digit code he sees is "2500", so maybe 25th week of 2000. He also sent pics. Hard to tell a lot from them though. Anyone know what 4 LTX's out the door is running these days?

Look for take offs on craigslist, they almost always have brand new tires. Search Land Cruiser/LX470/'07+ Tundra/'08+ Sequoia.
