joining the toyota family

i'm proud to say i am the new owner of a 99' toyota land cruiser with 58,000 miles. i am very excited to be driving such a dependable and reliable vehicle. after havign driven the truck for about a week, based on its condition, i thought it would be a good idea to have the 90k mile service done. truck went into the stealership and now feels and drives like new. two days later i notice a gas leak coming from directly under the front side of the gas tank. has anyone ever had a gas leak before? what are some suggestions to try and figure out where the leak is coming from?

thanks

sam

Congrats and welcome! 58k is low miles! I've heard of them around the fuel pump on 80's (top of the tank). There's a drain bolt on the bottom of the tank, could be there. Are you sure it's fuel? If it is, get it taken care of! When you turn the key to "on", the fuel system should pressurize, you might be able to get under the truck, have some turn the key to "on" and see if you can see something.

Welcome!

(did you have the timing belt replaced as well?)

considering how much you likely paid, the dealer should look at it -for free! (Not sure why they would have gone in the fuel system. Did they replace the fuel filter maybe?)

oh, and obviously, if it's really gas -easy to tell- don't drive the thing... Yea, I know, harder to get to the dealer... May just be a trivial fix.
