Running Boards Removed

I took off the running boards this weekend. Has anyone painted the strip of metal hanging down?

If your talking about the "flange" where the rocker panel turns toward the ground, it should already be painted the color of the body. Its just really dirty from having the running boards on there. Maybe your talking about painting it black??

Yes, I think the flange needs to be black.

I need to remove that. I believe it is a vibration dampner and looks really weird.

It is a weight, harmonic balancer type of thing. Lots of peeps on here have removed them and haven't had their trucks shake apart, so it's up in the air about true functionality.

I took mine off and the truck darn near flipped over on acceleration, so I had to put it back on.

I plan on going with Slee's step sliders. Anyone know if that weight balancer thing is visible with the step sliders on?
