Title edited: Right Front Speed Sensor bad
my right front area has been squeaking at low speed for the past week. It doesnt make much noise when its cold, but after driving for a while it gets kinda loud.
Its not the brakes, already ruled that one out. Just had my mother drive the truck down the street while I hung out the open door with my head under the truck, LOL! I wish I had video if it. __________________ 2000 Lexus LX470 - K&N/SLP/HIDs/Clear Corners/LEDs/Nav/Sirius/Black LC 16"s/BFG AT 285s/Blacked out trim 2005 Specialized FSR XC - CF HBar/XC Stem/Alias 143 Seat/Sidewinder Grips Oo==L==oO Last edited by 1loudLX; 06-24-08 at 10:41 PM. |

rolling squeak, not a suspension squeak

I know that you said you already ruled-out the brakes, but here's what I found causing my noise. My annoying squeak from the L/F turned-out to be coming from where the brake pads came in contat with the calipers. The metal surfaces were shiny where they were contacting eachother. I took them out, put anti-sieze on the edges, and now it's gone. It was hard to diagnose as I could only hear it while driving. I put it up on the hoist at work and removed the wheel. With the truck in drive, I inspected the L/F brakes, but it would not make the noise. That is when I noticed the pads sliding just slightly back and forth on the caliper causing the noise.
Hope you find-out what it is soon, I know how annoying and frusterating it is. __________________ Joshua 1998 UZJ100 Imp. Jade Mica/Gray 295 Nitto TG's “Some dream in color, I dream in 4 wheel drive." My Wife's AVM story www.findchristiewilson.com |

Could be the tires.
I had a problem with my old car. It was a squeek between the tire and rim. Minor problem, left it alone. Went away when I got new tires. Try rotating with rear to check. |

An easy solution could be - remove the center cap on the wheels and see if it stops. Good Luck!

Right at the beginning and right as you're going out the gate? Seems like both times you'd be on the brakes slightly, turning the corner and waiting for the gate. Pads may just be dragging on the rotors.

Tiny pebble stuck in the caliper area?
If so, a few hard stops often breaks the pebble up and all is well. __________________ NEW! If you've got something stuck between the pad and rotor I wouldn't suggest hard stops, I'd suggest cleaning it. Mashing on the brakes can cause whatever it is to gouge the rotor surface.

took the right front wheel off today and used brake cleaner to clean everything up. Didnt see anything dragging and even moved the dust shield away more. Problem of course went away till i left the shop...squeaked the whole way down my street after i rolled thru the gate. __________________ 2000 Lexus LX470 - K&N/SLP/HIDs/Clear Corners/LEDs/Nav/Sirius/Black LC 16"s/BFG AT 285s/Blacked out trim 2005 Specialized FSR XC - CF HBar/XC Stem/Alias 143 Seat/Sidewinder Grips Oo==L==oO |

ABS, VSC and TRAC lights came on earlier...went to the dealership. There were a bunch of codes, one for the speed sensor and then the rest are all related things(including ABS actuator). bought a speed senor and had them clear the codes.
On my way home the TRAC freaked out when i started going from a light turning, so I assume its a faulty SS even though the code didnt come back up. I'm going to replace the sensor later this week but for now I'll just drive the other car, dont need the trac kicking in on a high speed turn or something. __________________ 2000 Lexus LX470 - K&N/SLP/HIDs/Clear Corners/LEDs/Nav/Sirius/Black LC 16"s/BFG AT 285s/Blacked out trim 2005 Specialized FSR XC - CF HBar/XC Stem/Alias 143 Seat/Sidewinder Grips Oo==L==oO |

got the sensor replaced this afternoon, that was fun----not. Ended up taking the rotor off so we could punch out the old sensor that was stuck in there. Repacked the bearing while it was off and cleaned up some stuff. Seems like the squeak went away, and no more xmas-tree dashboard.

I had an annoying squeak that turned out to be a missing screw on the front grill. I replaced it and I'm back to normal. Good luck!

I had a noise that, for the longest time seemed to be coming from the upper dash area...Finally hunted it down and it was coming from the glove box door, of all places. Used some of those little round felt pad sticker thingys (like you would use on a chair leg so it wouldnt scratch the floor, etc...) and all has been well..Only need to put new felt pads in every 6 months-->1 yr. No biggie !!

this thread is specifically about a right front squeak coming from the right front wheel area, the "lets post random squeaks we have heard in our truck" thread. Squeak hasnt come back since thursday night so I think im good. Now just to fix a rattle I hear, which is coming from the kittens.
