At least 10 inches of lift,or enough to clear 38"s,mog axles, winch, beadlocks, roll cage, remove body panels, and put a turbo on for good measure...should keep you busy.

P.S. kinda looks like a subaru Forester :-)

fair enough trunk, wasn't aware that you guys get plastic sidesteps, the Australian landcruisers come with aluminium which isnt much better but would probably handle a bit more of a beating.

and ofcourse the slee rock sliders would be on everyones truck if we had the money.

Aluminum, plastic, same thing. They both bend way too easy.

The running boards are steps, nothing more. Expect nothing more from them and you will be fine. Get the maintenance fully up to date first. As to mods... save your $$$ for gas. When I started driving 20years ago, it was about 65 cents a gallon (in South Carolina) and it was all I could do to keep my dad's old corvair on the road. I think cigarettes were about the same cost per pack as a gallon of gas... I can't imagine being a teenager trying to drop $500 a month into my truck...

Never been a fan of dealerships servicing my cars as you're more than likely going to have a 17yr old 1st or 2nd year apprentice working on ya truck. Aswell as the fact that I'd prefer to chose what Oils etc are being used in my car.

IMO, get someone to help you who has some experience servicing cars and do it yourself! always handy to learn the basics and save your folks some cash on labour, maybe you could use that to convince them on spending the money on mods :P

Agreed. And you will learn about the truck and start down the road of learning how to work on it.

Welcome. When its time for tires, 285's do wonders for the looks.

Learn about waxing, best advise I ever received and it takes care of the "investment" - it will make the parents proud and keep that gas money coming.

I was not going to reply to this one give the rediculessness that I would expect out of a teen owner with this rig. Fact is it is so high end any replacement stuff will have trade-offs you wont understand. Also stock it can do plenty off road... save your bucks and do some waxin.

On the other hand....... these would be critical mods to do now!

1. Put in a deep cycle battery, doa search, not Optima, doa search. That way you can jam your tunes all night and the car will still start in the morning. I use it to play Nemo over and over again.

2. Party?fun kit.... chairs, blankets, cooler, tent, bug lamps, whatever yo do you have a mobile party station boy. You need the battery to keep it going though.

3. Put in a nav unit .... or if cheap rig up an MP3 interface off EBAY. Chances are after having your lazy behind driven aroudn for almost 2 decades you might not know where you are going.

4. Replace all factory speakers DONT PUT IN A BOOM BOX THAT TAKES UP YOU WHOLE TRUNK.

5. & a dont mess with Texas stick for good measure.

I wish I had gotten similar advice for my first car.... a 1978 Saab 99. that was 12 years old.

I never thought I would be so nit-picky, but it's "probably".
Maybe it's intentional. LOL!

Oh, and
