slee diff drop..........

Hi there, about the Slee diff drop, I understand if you lift the truck and raise the front it is necessary to maintain the proper angle for the front shafts.
My question is: if I decide to do the OME lift with shocks , springs and t-bars I need the Slee diff drop device, but do I still need the Slee if I just want to raise the factory t-bars an inch and a half or so…? And not do the OME setup.

In other words let’s say the Australian L-C operators that have the 100 and decide to either go OME or just raise the T-bars do they have a similar diff drop design of their own or do they just lift and don’t worry about the angles (and CV boots) or do they buy the Slee……!! ??
Thanks much …Erick.

There may be a similar product available in OZ, not sure. If you're just cranking the OEM t-bars a bit, you don't need to do the diff drop, but just know that you're increasing the angle on the CV joints and increasing the likelihood that one of the boots might leak.

Not needed but the kit will definately help the life of the CV's and give you peace of mind. The kit is very easy to install. I did it by my self in less than an hour.

Ditto on probably not needing them for just tweaking the t-bars.

Of course, you could always ask Christo.

IMO I wouldn't bother with the diff drop if you're just raising the front 1" - 1.5" (my CV angles are greater than that WITH the diff drop kit and my 2.75"-3" lift). However as above just be aware that any change in CV angle (with or without the diff drop kit) will more than likely result in CV boot seepage. At least that has been my experience.

Doing a diff drop has nothing to do with factory vs OME vs whatever-brand T-bars. It has to do with the angle in which the shafts operate.

If you lift 1.5" I would highly suggest doing the diff drop as it put the shafts at near stock angles. Prolongs life and reduces leakage which helps same.

Do you have to? No
Is it the best thing to do? Yes (and it's affordable)

x2. I only lifted my front by about 1" even, and I still did it, for the reasons stated above. For about 2.5 C-notes, no reason not to IMHO, especially in light of the cost in time and money of replacing a leaking boot or even worse, a worn, dried-out CV...

thanks for your inputs......i will do the Slee diff drop thing then , i am still curious about the people down under and how they deal with this particular problem....i am probably going to do the full OME , i hope that this will also take care of the leaning to the left that many cruisers have .

last but not least , i would love to do this myself but i do not have the tools required (and experience !) for the task i am then looking for a reputable shop not too far (i live on the southwest coast of Florida)
i know of one ARB dealer on the east coast (Miami) it is called truckin' motion ....anybody heard of it? , i would love to live in Colorado , everything would be simpler then...!!

thanks people....Erick.

I expect thats to ATS4X4dotcom, Darren who is a contributer here. IIRC he said someone else decided to do a copy of yours and start selling them as well.

As well as lots of other bits

And more to come.

BTW, I am no longer at ATS, hence the name change here, running my own shop now, but doing all the good stuff still, and some.

Yes, Darren is doing our distributing down under. I wanted him to post when he was ready. Kinda strange to sell parts into Australia, but Darren has been great to get us exposure there. We hope to go "inspect" his facility next year

Christo,

The $15 per checked luggage might not work for you, you will need a container on your way back

Hi Erick, most Australian 100 series IFS cruisers with aftermarket suspension who do any serious offroad or touring have fitted Slee or a local copy, I ran for 2 years with OME before fitting the Slee kit, I was lucky and did not damage my Cvs or boots but many others did. I have since replaced my suspension with Bilstien shocks and Ridepro springs to get more lift and a much better ride.

I don't know if it's a copy either (it looks exactly the same), but it's awfully expensive.

Slee's:

Price: US$ 245

Spanish Local shop (Tienda Foro4x4.com):

Price: 370 € = US$ 577

Well, I'm not surprised...
Every "4x4" labelled things are expensive in Europe.

But your price is better than the one my friends got ... 525.00 .... EUROS !!!!

Europe(4x4 labelled+Ozi brand)=price x 3

That red diff drop kit looks like ones I've seen in LC magazine in Japan. They came out w/ diff drop kits around '98-99, and they still cost more than the Slee kit.

We even made full page of one of our bigger 4wd mags with the short bus bar fitted this month, from a charity event we were group leader for.

Will have to include a copy of the mag in the next shipment.

5th July to 25th July, we will be out testing the rear Slee bumper for outback travel in Aus, with afew "extra" items on it.
