Thoughts on modifying the Borla?

I've decided the time has come to get a lot more sound.

I admit it, I'm a V8 rumble junkie. It always turns my head.

That being said, years ago when I installed the Borla, I thought that would do it, but it really is quite sedate.

I'm headed to this shop tomorrow: Mufflex Performance Custom Exhaust Systems Trenton, NJ

I don't feel like repla$ing the whole system, just the muffler and resonator perhaps.

Oh, and my wife is out of town too...

A nice "throaty" sound would be nice. I'm sure you don't have this in mind but a "loud" LC doesn't seem proper. Leave the cherry bombs and glass packs for the old worn out K5 Blazer crowd. I had some exhaust work done on my RRC a while back and they had it WAAAY too loud. It just didn't fit the vehicle. On the other hand, my dad had a K Bar S '75 Bronco Roadster built for me years ago and it only had miniscule mufflers on it at best. Loud as hell but it kinda fit the vehicle...Damn, I miss that thing...Boy, it was FUN, FUN, FUN, when I was in college !! I'd post a pic of it but for some reason I can't..Not sure why, either ??

Yeah, I hear you on defining that fine line between throaty and intrusive.

My wife will not be happy if she fires it up and the whole neighborhood looks over.

An SBC sound is not what I want, just a little more oomph.

I love the Magnaflow on my 60, so maybe I'll try that in SS.

Mac...just have the resonator removed and replaced with exhaust pipe/tubing. I eliminated mine, had the exhaust tubing tucked up nicely above the bottom of the frame rails. Better clearance and better sound IMO.

Good idea Spress, this is on a stock system right? And it got louder?

My tip is crushed and this might be the perfect time to tuck it up there.

I am running the longer Magnaflow straight through. The longer Magnaflow is a little more muffled than the shorter version. Mine is just perfect...not loud at all but you know its got a V8 under the hood. If you want more Db then just use the shorter Magnaflow...sans resonator.

would be nice on the 911, on the LX I want to rumble in the jungle 24/7! Mac did his exhaust up today, I'm waiting to hear it and I might go get it done this week too!

I did indeed. Trying to figure out the best way to post how it sounds.

The footage I took doesn't sound so good.

Well...what did you end up doing with the exhaust? And how do YOU describe the sound?
