Need FJ100 Recommendations

Currently own/drive a '91 FJ80 141k miles, it's been bulletproof on reliability. Looking at upgrading to an FJ100 the LC or LX470, any specifics to be aware of?
I already know about the factory defective Smokey Topaz color on 98-00 models. Are there amy other things to avoid?

The prices are slowly starting to fall on these models, just wish they'd fall like the escalade/navigators have.

Well, congrats on wanting to move up to the 100! There have been lots of threads lately on the different years and what some have to offer over others.
98 & 99 were available with the electric locker, but 2000 on had TRACS so traction is not a problem. The UZJ100 in the States came with a 4 speed auto up until 2002 and then 2003? they came with 5 speed automatics.
The 98 & 99's had two pinion front diffs, and 2000 on up had four pinion stronger diffs up front.
Search a little and you can read for hours.....
There should be a few more on the market out there when gas hits $5 a gallon.

Good luck

I just bought on '01. There's a steep drop-off in price in the Denver market once you fall below '02.

There's a dealer in Denver with a VERY nice gold '03 w/ Nav sitting on their lot (~70k miles). The sales guy finally got around to following up with me today and I expect they are very willing to seriously deal on their $27k'ish asking price.

It's definitely a buyer's market right now, don't wait for gas to fall back to $2/gallon
