5 speed uzj100 with a V8

Did they ever make a uzj100 with a v8 and 5 speed manual from the factory?

This was available in Australia (from 98 up until last year I believe). I am not sure where else this particular model was available, maybe someone else can chime in?

AFAIK the 5 spd was mated to the 1FZ still. The 2UZ was an auto.

They do exist, but I have never seen one.

Poked all through the trucks listed on Ebay and a couple other AU used car sites and couldn't find one. A few 100 series 1FZ manuals, plenty of diesel manuals, but not one V8 manual.

Interesting. I wonder why the use of the cyclonic air cleaner rather than the small one the US got.

DUST! As with most Africian, Middle East, Australian, they probably see more dusty roads. The V8 in OZ has gone back to the flat one I think, not sure on the late diesel.
Nine V8 manuals fond on the one site so there will be others
We only got the V8 full time in 2003, prior to that it had been released in a couple of High spec units, not sure if manual was an option for them.

Well, that would explain why I wasn't finding them, I figured after '03 the 5 spd would refer to the 5 spd auto.

The US spec 80 got the cyclonic, but not the 100, just another thing we got screwed on. Where's my SFA TD 100 series? About 8,000 miles away . . . .

Yes. There's a company in Tokyo that used to place ads in LC magazine on vehicles they can import. They had the V8 w/ 5spd manual 100 series, 78 series w/ 5spd manual in either left/right hand drive with either 1FZ, 1HZ, or 1HD-FTE, plus toyotas from N. America not sold in Japan (Taco, Tundra, etc.). IIRC, the price was around 5.5 million yen for the LC V8 manual. They also make the LC TD manual. Contrast this to the JDM price of the base 100 series of 4.4 million yen for either the V8 or TD (same price for either, not $7K more for the TD like in some countries, and A/C is standard!). The LC78's were stripped like the Toyotas of yester-year...rubber floor mats, factory snorkel, vinyl or cloth seats, 5spd manual, manual everything (windows/door locks/seats/climate control), front/rear diff locks.

I don't recall the 100 series being made with a live axle turbo diesel version. I only recall the 1HZ available (HZJ105). OTOH, the LC78/79 series was available w/ the 1HD-FTE turbo diesel. You'd have to buy the HZJ105 and add an aftermarket turbo kit. One guy on the 100scool forum I think swapped in an 80 series TD into his 105.

My favorite is a UZJ40 I saw in LC mag.
