3rd row seat question

Hi, never been in this section before. I have a question for you 100 series guys. The wife and I are going to the dealer tomorrow to find her a more fuel efficient DD. I noticed on their website that they have a '99 on the lot. It doesn't have 3rd row seats, which is a strike against it out of the gate (3 sometimes 4 kids). My question is, were 3rd row seats an option or standard? Also, if they were an option, how hard would it be to add the seats later on?

I did a search and nothing jumped out on the first few pages. Sorry, but it's been a long day so my search was somewhat half-assed.

Thanks in advance for the wisdom thrown my way.

Enjoy

All of the mounting stuff should be in place. I just sold my seats through flea bay and you see them on there fairly regularly

It's about the same as the 80, it was an option, but finding one without them is pretty rare. I'd bet it had them and the PO didn't give them to the dealer when they traded in.

For the 80's if they don't have them you can't add them, they hang on a large bracket on the fender. I don't know on the 100 if they didn't have them from the get go if they can be added. If you see 6 anchor points in the floor, then you probably could.

I'm pretty sure I've heard of a few 100's without the seats or any of the requirements to mount them. Just don't assume anything. Take your time, there are plenty of 100's out there for sale right now.

You'll notice all the brackets in the rear as the 100 only contacts the floor.

I think it's pretty rare to find a production vehicle without them, but they are out there. If you find one that does not have the brackets in the floor and/or the seatbelts hanging from the rear 1/4s it will be a lot of parts to install. Not just the seats, but the brackets, and all the interior trim in the rear floor to ceiling.

Odds are the one you are looking at had seats. Good luck.

I guess I would ask about " more fuel efficient DD ". What was your wife driving, a Hummer?

While I love my 99, fuel efficient is never a word that comes to mind.

We weren't looking at the Cruiser as an option for her, just entertainment for me. Turns out it had third row seats after all, just said seating for five on the ad.

She has since decided she's happy with what she has. So am I actually.

I have tan 3rd seats that I would sell reasonably from my 00 LX470 - if they fit an LC... imagine they would.
