Looking for local help

Is there anyone in the Northern Kentucky or Cincinnati area that knows what they are doing under the hood? I currently do minor repairs, but I want to start taking on bigger projects. I would feel much more confident with a mentor.

***Also, other than the FSM onine manuals, what is a good repair manual to buy?

The FSM is the best repair manual. What bigger projects are you wantign to tackle?

I'm at just over 100K, so you name it. I'm even feeling a little overwhelmed with changing fluids. Just changing rotors on this is a little more complicated than any of my other vehicles. I'm sure that once I get into it, with the wealth of knowledge on this site, I'd be fine. Guess I'm just looking for support. I'll especially need it if I try to tackle the Timing Belt and everything associated with it.

If you're a shade tree mechanic, which I'm not much more than, I wouldn't do the timing belt on your own. There's just too much that can go wrong - and it's all serious, blow your engine up type stuff. Dig into a knuckle and see how you do there. That's usually a good litmus for whether you want to do more on your own or not.

Is there a local TLCA club near you? I know our club is very helpful and many are willing to pitch in if needed. Good luck.

I'll check into that. I'm sure there is. KY has some great trail rides. I also have a Jeep TJ and there are plenty of clubs around for that.

Local TLCA is not as easy to track down as I thought it would be. The Cincinnati Chapter is vertually non existant. Their last post was in 2006. The one Kentucky chapter is 100 miles away and their forum links up to ih8mud. Needless to say, I'm still looking.
