That's hilarious. Why the hell did you use 1/4" plate?? The INTI gutter mount uprights are no where near that thick.

It was convenient, for one. The plates must support up and down forces, and side to side forces. Besides, 1/4" thick steel plates aren't that outrageous- the Inti gutter mount uprights are just as heavy because they have a lot of extra reinforcements which will allow the thinner steel to do the job.

Tried to stretch it a little for ya, but there aren't enough pixels to see detail on the rack.

How loud is it?

Not that loud, to me anyway. I've been living with a Land Rover DII for 6 years with a roof rack, so I am kinda used to them. A little howling... not that much however.

I commented to my wife that people think it's heavy. It's really not, but she says (and I agree with her) that the sub-frame rail width, along with the width of the aluminum side rails of the rack makes it 'look' heavy.

Had the INTI for more than 10 years, already "refurbished" it once and added sand ladder mounts, a custom aluminum cargo box, antenna mounts, etc... Here's what it used to look like on the old truck:

So are these racks available? I thought that is was prohibitively difficult to get them out of Central America. Where do you get them from?

Greg

So what do one of these INTI racks run?

Less than an AO?

Mine was $1265.00

Then I had to add stuff to make it work on my 100. Overall I got about $1600 in mine

I didn't get mine from Alvaro, I brought mine directly from Venezuela back in '98.
