We have done that over here, and have bolt ons for 100 IFS [with fitting kit] as well as 80's, 105's 120 prado's, nissan gq/gu patrols, and current hilux [tacoma for you guys] and have developed the longer slinky coils so we can use the extra long shocks as a bolt on. [like these 16"]

Most require a "fitting kit" which extends sway bar links, bump spacers for chassis, and inside coil, brake lines, and for 80, rear plates which change the top mount to a bush, instead of a pin, to stop side loading of the shaft/seals.

We do a "some cutting and welding required" kit for the nissans also, to fit double, or triple bypass Fox shox.

Fox even give you your own part No if you order 50 or more of that one type of shock.

I have spoken with Christo about this, as wella s the extra long twin tube shocks we have had made, as a more budget orientated option with same fitting kit and slinky coils.

Nice! So does that give you more than 0.6" of gain?

Actually...I'm glad to see these pictures. I've asked many times and had I seen them I think less debate wars would have ocurred.

Now...that 16" rear travel option interests me A LOT. Looks like it requires little labor and parts-wise. I'd sign up TODAY for the needed parts if it was availble in the US. SLEE? SOMEBODY?

ATS? Can you fly them over with you and I'll take you 4-wheeling?

John,

Have been speaking with Christo about the shocks, and I have to get back to him with some details.

I am planning to actually purchase an 80 over there and fit it out, so I can have a look at Mexico, and do the Alaska trek 2010, and afew others, [cruise moab, rubicon etc] just like we tour here, living out of the vehicle, and let some other Aus guys "borrow" it whenj Im not using it, and I am hoping some US guys would also be keen to wheel out here, with ROOBY available, to have a look around.

Maybe I can get a short time work visa in the US, and see if I can do some development work over there, while going wheeling

Thank you,

I shall return to California, spent a great night round the fire with pismo Jim, @ Pismo beach, last time, and we parked in Jims driveway for the night, and we had a great bbq in his back yard while we were there, before surf and turf started [Jim says our visit was the "original" surf and turf No 1 ] afew years ago, on our way through California last time, and would love to attend Surf and Turf after SEMA, and doing the Rubicon in the near future [next few years]

Your on!

Sounds great, and Im hoping we can do the same for anyone wanting to head this way.

We are organising an 80scool/lcool gathering for next year, which Im hoping we will get alot of old names to here also at the moment.

Maybe we need to start a thread on this topic "mud time share trips"

FYI: I just measured my droop at 83mm which is pretty darn good for a lifted IFS 100. I could, by getting a slightly longer limiting strap, maybe squeeze another 15-20mm but that would be the max...

bolt on rear fox remote res shocks

Just installed some bolt-on rear remote res fox shocks to complement the front setup. Fit perfectly, and about 1/2" longer than OME. So far the ride seems to be excellent.
