Ok, I take that back, other than scheduled I've replaced the water pump, just because it's pretty much a no-brainer while you're doing the timing belt. But, it was good I did, it was puking a bit. So, it could have been a repair eventually.

Hi,

I have a 99 model with 104k miles, bought and driven in California. All service has been performed at factory recommended intervals. The paint and interior are in excellent (almost new) condition, and it drives and looks great outside, inside, under the hood, and under the truck (zero rust). Here is the list of all problems experienced:

-the mechanism that raises and lowers the front of the drivers seat failed at 102k
-the elocker in the rear diff does not actuate reliably
-the wood interior trim has spots and looks degraded in intermittent spots
-the starter had to be replaced at 90k

rear main seal
rear output seal on transmission
front output seal on transfer case
front diff exploded (I have a four pinion I will sell!!)
brakes-replaced with oem pads/shim kits and resurfaced rotors

Bought it 3.5 years ago with 69K on the clock from the original owner. Now at 125K it has performed above and beyond my original expectations. Other than PM parts it hasn't needed anything additional (knock on wood).

I'd do it again...

Why'd you change the fuse block & what did it cost?

Greg

Owned this '99 for 3 years, 136k.

Scheduled maintnace plust water pump
new "exciter pack"? (cylinder wouldn't fire)
new 02 sensor
wood paneling peeling
steering shaft needs work
antenna needs fixing

All in all it's been a strong running reliable vehichle, especially considering what I've put it through.

Went haywire. Alarm going off for no reason, couple other quirks. Heard from the stealership that it happens occasionally with '98 and '99, but don't know anyone else that had it happen and it's no reason to avoid the truck by any means. Just got unlucky.

Was about $600 bucks. I look at things like that as a month's car payment to fix a truck that is paid for and has 150k miles... and another 100k to go.

You didn't ask me but I just gotta brag a little: '98 with 253,000 miles. Only failures: a fuel pump and broken antenna shaft. The electric windows have developed a mind of their own and need some attention.........
