That looks awesome. I painted the emblem black too and my 00 champagne has flares.

What did I learn about painting plastic!

1. Use spray paint that is intended for plastic. Will be cleaning and repainting this afternoon with plasti coat spray paint.
2. Do not get in a hurry and use paint intended for metal.
3. The bottom grill needs a coat to match even thou it is flat black.

I really like the look and can not believe I did not do this sooner.

Lookin' good! I used Dupli-Color high temp engine paint and am happy with the results. Hopefully it will hold up. Will post pics later today.

Agree with Loud, something should be done with the Chrome, but kudos - looks great!

Pint, are those the factory fogs in the TJM. I am sure that info is somewhere, but?

Well on your way to ROTM. Now when I spot your rig around town there will be no mistaking it. Mine still looks like a mall runner.

Yes, stock fogs. Looking at adding either some Hella's or Lightforce's soon.

Can't decide what too do with the chrome hoop? Take it off? Paint it? Was thinking maybe paint it with the truck bed coating I used on the trim?

Truck Bed paint? That might look too good where I would want to copy it

After posting I went to the TJM site and saw that the fogs fit - I like the look and function.

I used Dupli-Color Truck Bed Cooating in black from Autozone when I painted the trim last week. I like the look enough that I think I'm going to do the rear bumper cover until the gives me enough allowance to buy a Slee!

Not sure if it really shows in the picture, but since the TJM hoop is aluminum rather than chrome, I took some 3M cloth to it for a brushed aluminum look. Helps take away a little bling.

A black anodized finish would look super cool and custom, some of my customers include anodizing shops so I might look into it.

Unfortunately the rear emblems are a pain to get off and back on. They are held on with double sided tape basically. Once they are off, you need too get all the old tape off and re-tape them with an automotive trim tape...3M makes a nice thin one. I took all mine off and only put the Toyota sombrero back on once i painted it.

Sorry, I didn't tell you how to get them off! Most use dental floss or fishing line. Just pull it back and forth between the body and tape. Only takes a few minutes to get them off.

To get the emblems off you can also use WD40...loosens the adhesive to make it easier to remove.

I used paint from Home Depot that is specifically designed for plastic. No prep work needed. I did go ahead and clean/scuff the grill with steel wool. Came out pretty decent overall.

Or you can use a heat gun; makes getting the adhesive off much easier as well.

Goo Gone will also take the sticky residue off once you have sawed the emblems off with dental floss.

I may go with a body colored grill instead of black. Check out this 200 from Artic Trucks.

I used fabric fishing line - Kevlar like - called something like spiderweb or spider line. Worked like a charm. Then a little goof off and a little wax to get the paint smooth and you are good to go. I painted the sombreros (front and rear) with graphite metallic spray paint. Looked good imho.
