Of course! Thank the Monkey.

Thanks Monkey!

I really love my gold emblems that are now DupliColor Phantom Gray Metallic. If I had to do it over again, I might go a shade or two lighter.

When the time is right, I'll address the side trim to match.

Thanks again.

Hey Fish--you ever get around to trying these? I have a 2000 LX with the white/pearlish finish, and the rear bumper needs some serious touching up. Wondering if you tried these paints yet? Thanks in advance--

For wheels, the best is a sandblasting gun.
I would use very small grain, like 1000 or 1200 water paper sand, for trim
(Maybe nothing... just clean trims correctly before painting could be enough)

I used some 120 wet dry I had laying around.

Corrected from my first page post - 120 grit.

Any other solutions if you dont have a sandblasting gun?

Sit down with a few sheets of sand paper and just rough them up, take you an hour at most.

Yeah, no salt on the roads here in SALT Lake City. Get a flapper wheel for a drill if you don't want to hand sand them.

Anyone have any updates on how the do-it-yourself jobs are holding up on the trim?

I'm considering doing mine, but haven't decided whether painting just the weathered inset black would look better or painting the entire trim piece black.

Also, has anyone painted the rear vents in the rear pillar black?

I'm sort of leaning towards doing the inset and the rear vents in black, since I could always go back and do the entire trim piece easier than reverting to the factory color if I didn't like it.

My trim and rear bumper are holding up great after many months and thousands of miles on and off road.

Not me... I don't want to reproduce the same behavior of "chromy boys" with black

Never thought much about it, the 60/62 vents came from the factory in black. Someone in a previous thread had mentioned that it might be a nice retro touch and I was thinking about giving it a shot.

I did mine this AM. I was going to use a semi-gloss black, but then decided to take my wife's advice and use bedliner in a spray can. It looks tons better. It is supposed to be 99 today so it should harden fairly quickly. I've used this before on the flares of my 80 and it held up great.

Thanks for the link Fish, ordered today and will finally get around to doing my bugly trim. I was going to wait to see Pints, but I could not resist the all black and matching 202 color. Will post up with results.

I bought all the stuff, but got a little nervous about spray-painting the exterior of my new-to-me LC

I had the same concerns, but I bought some of that painting tape at Lowes with the plastic already attached. The plastic was like 24" tall past the tape. Covered enough of the body that I had no overspray. Good luck!

If the paint goes on unevenly or runs, can I sand it back down and respray as required? I did a test spray on some cardboard and it did not inspire confidence
