Pics of ARB Bumper - Purchase Decision

I am looking to order an ARB Front and possibly Rear Bumper in the next day or so. I mostly concerned about animal strikes but want a nice look as well since this is my daily driver that sees little if any off road use.

I am fairly certain I like the full ARB Combination Bar for the Front ... which I am thinking of having Paint Color Matched to my 2006 Thundercloud Metallic 100 Series.

The Sahara Bar actually weighs 50lbs more than the COmbination Bar ... oddly enough ... and since I am cursed with AHC which I do not plan to remove or disable ... I really need to keep weight to a minimum.

I looked in to powder coating a gray color, which I saw on a 2002 100 Series in the Trucks for Sale section of Slee's website. However, that approach appears to be a bit complicated. I have been told that the entire bumper needs to be sandblasted in order to powder coated. Paint matching, while not nearly as durable, sems like the easier solution.

Also, I am torn on which rear bumper to use on my 100 Series. I am not overly find of the rear ARB Bumper. However, Cruiser Solutions swears by this rear bumper and highly recommends it.

Since weight is an issue, I am going without the Spare Tire Carrie or Jerry Can which weigh 50lbs each.

Does anyone have a pic of the ARB Rear Bumper without the Spare Tire Carrier or Jerry Can?

Also, any comments or recommendations or pisc on the ARB Front Bumper would be greatly approeciated as well.

The Sahara weighs 50lbs more than the combo bar? Did you mean to say "50 lbs LESS?"

I haven't purchased one yet, but I prefer the look of the COmbination bar over the Sahara bar. If it is lighter, thats even better.

For the rear, I am not fond of the look of the ARB rear bumper. The Slee (non sway bar) or Kaymar are much better looking, and I am sure are as or much more stout than the ARB.

Here is my 2004. Color painted (not powder) to match the lower panel color. I really enjoy the look and function. I have Hella Black Magic lights and my fog lamp bulbs are Hyper Yellow which looks cool and might add value if I ever drive in the snow/fog (which is uncommon here in Miami).

I don't know much about the weight, but I have the OME Med set up, Diff Drop and torsion bars.

Here’s mine with a Warn XD9000. The AHC is struggling so I’m looking for OME springs as a supplement.

Front Sahara bar with a winch and rear Kaymar bar. My AHC has no problems with it ,I have adjusted the front Torsion bars to suit.

Here is mine: ARB combo on front and Slee w/tire carrier on rear. I'll try to get a better pick of the rear up if you want.

Here's mine. TJM front and Slee rear w/tire carrier. Like them both.

Here's what it looked like coming in for a landing.

Front - no chrome

I was making this decision a while back and decided the TJM bumper looked better than the ARB. I am only talking looks wise here.....i dont have experience with either the ARB or the TJM on a 100 series as far as performance.

just a thought...here are pics of Slees website. This one is the T17

When I bought my 2004 LC the TMJ was not an option for that truck unless you want to mod-it. Only the ARB was.

Steenh, Would you be willing to post a couple more pics front and rear? Especially front? Are you happy with the TJM so far? I was wondering at the difference in price between TJM and ARB...but I really don't want to the chrome tube the Sahara has. I'm thinking your front bumper look is they way I might want to go.

Thanks!

Be happy to.

I really like the look. The TJM has the chrome tube as well, but I chose not to install it. The holes would be perfect for lights too, but I like the clean look so I think I'm leaving it as is. I don't think it's quite as stout as the ARB, so I've heard, but it's not flimsy by any means. Price you can check on Slee, but I think it's a couple hundred less for the TJM. I made the decision based on looks. Wanted more low profile function over hard core off-road looks.
Very easy to install, including the winch mount. Couple of hours for the whole project.

Outstanding! Looks great - congrats. That's exactly what I'm looking for...hope you don't mind the copy. I am assuming I can get the same bumper for my LX. Will talk to Christo. Looks like your LC is tan in one pic, white or beige in the others. My LX is tan or sand and based on your the one or two of your truck from the rear, black powdercoat may not look too bad on my LX.

Thanks for the additional pics!

Obviously the pics kind of suck. It's silver. Copy away! I'm very happy with the setup and the color scheme.

Here's another pic of the TJM T3 Classique (Steel) sans aluminum hoop and rubber bumpers. My only complaint with this bumper, which is the same complaint with all aftermarket 100/LX bumpers, is the overhang. I measured (thanks Snook for the idea!) and I could with a little cutt'n move the bumper back (less overhang) about 1.5"-2". But I'm waiting to see what Christo comes up with for his soon to be 100 front bumper before I invest the time and energy to mod it.

The only other thing to be aware of with this bumper (I don't know how the ARB's do in this area) is that it leaves the bottom corners of the A/C condensor exposed...the sage brush out here has roughed it up a bit :-o (wouldn't be hard to fab a sheetmetal protector plate for the condensor...).

Personally I don't like the T17 because of the bolt on side wings rather than the T3CS's integral wings. FYI: The hoop (T3CS at least), other than a convenient place to loop the winch line around, is basically for aesthetics...and IMO would be nothing more than a damage multiplier if a deer or similar happened to end up on your bumper ;-)

interesting.....

I liked the T17 better for the very reason of the overhang. It doenst look as bulky as the T3. You may be right though about the damage multiplier. I wounder how sturdy the T17 is??
