99 LX470 Total Cream Puff Totally Stock no mods

Spokane, WA +-2000ft Elevation

Always run 87 Octane, usually from Costco

Winter with studless snows 15 City/17-18 interstate

Summer with Toyo A/T 15-17 City/ 18 interstate

Best MPG 19 doing 65 driving to Seattle on one shot.

Worst MPG 9 Stuck in a freakin blizzard with 4 adults, a baby, and a truck full of crap. Rediculous snow, but she pulled us through. Pulled a lot of Chevs and Fords back on the road. Idled like crazy.

How do I get such numbers? Meticulous maintaince and the fact that almost my entire drive to work is a local 50mph highway. I'm very carefull with it, let off the gas as soon as a light turns red and don't idle anywhere but a stoplight. I don't go over 65 on the interstate and don't put crap on the roof. Plus, I drive it like a Buick.

I tried 87 octane, found a power loss on the highway climbing even small hills, in the mile high city area.

Late to this tread - but just returned from a Southern California to Yellowstone trip. MPG seemed to increase with recent change of spark plugs (I was running 14 mpg on highway).

On this trip, MPG ranged from 17.5 (in yellowstone (8,000 alt. and 45 mph) to 16 (open highway at 75 mph).
