Engine cleaning question?

How do used car dealers get the engines and engine bay to look so clean on a vehicle?

Is it just a matter of steam cleaning or a combo of chemicals and steam cleaning?

I'll be doing the 90K maintenance soon and I prefer working on a clean engine if possible.

Thanks,

Adam R.

I spray down the insides with Simple Green, then hit it with a power wash soapy spray. Works great!

I've used simple green, but use a light "mist" instead of a power spray to rinse since I'm concerned about getting water into connectors, in the distributor caps of my 4runner and honda, etc.

Follow the above with a microfiber towel and some quick detail spray on all the plastic and rubber.

I have found that a foam action degreaser works really good. And so does Super Clean its made by castrol.

LOL, remember at paragon when I had my hood open and the jeep guys thought "ohhhh what, did the lexus break on the trail?" Idiots.

Anyways, thanks for the kind words. I actually just took my engine cover off this afternoon and cleaned my intake manifold and wiped the rest of the engine bay down with a damp cloth. Stupid douche tech who did my 90k left my engine bay really fawking dirty. It really helps to keep your engine bay clean, cause then you can see the possible coolant leak i spotted this afternoon, YIKES!

Nothing works like Mr.Clean watered down in a spray bottle...spray it on and leave it for 15 minutes, then pressure wash off. I use it on my dirt bike also...it's cheap and and it works tit's

I actually did in my previous post if you read into it.

Usually a damp cloth with either some spray-nine or water wiping it all down every once in a while. My engine has never really gotten so grimey i needed to use a heavy degreaser.
