Extreme Transmission

Hi all, just finished fitting an Extreme a442f to my 100 series Turbo Diesel as the stock one blew up a month ago. I must have had one of the bad batch of trannys from Toyota. Anyway all I can say is that the service I received from Rodney at Wholesale Automatics was first class. I have rung Rodney many times and he has been only to happy to help and this was before I purchased anything from him. Thanks to Rodney and Stuart from Wholesale Automatics and it feels great knowing my tranny is better than new. The transmission feels awesome with each gear change quick and positive. Acceleration feels better because of the quick gear changes or the modified torque cnvertor. I look forward to my next big trip to test it right out.

Also fitted some HIR lamps both high and low beam. I think it was money well spent as high beam is much stronger while low beam is an improvement.

Next upgrade will be ARB diff locks front and rear and I need to make a decision which way to go with my AHC suspension. Keep it or rip it out and put Bilsteins or Rancho or Ralph Tough Dog shocks. Everyone here seems to like Bilsteins. Not much gets mentioned about other shocks.

I think the Ralphs are an Oz product that doesn't get exported in large quantity, and I think many here (in the U.S. at least) look at Ranchos as a lower tier item. At least compared to manufacturers like Bilstein, Koni, etc. Many like OME, though personally I had a few blow up on my old 80 Series and am trying to avoid them in the future if possible.

Glad the tranny is healthy again. I love the old bus tranny! Wish Toyota was still putting them in Cruisers.

Yeah I'm not a great fan of OME shocks although the LTR's(remote cannisters) could be good, and the Bilsteins get good reviews also here in OZ. Probaly go with the Bilsteins
