Yes, quite a few TD4.2 have easily done 1,000,000, if I can beleive the posts on Patrol4x4.com and Outerlimits4x4.com. An AT in a Safari will do considerabley less without requiring a rebuild. If you want longevity and strength, an upgraded valve body is a must. Otherwise forget towing or turboing. The standard tranny is as they say "bullet proof". Also, just like the BEB in the 1HD-Ts, it is highly recommended that all IP seals are replaced. The IP in the Safari/GQ is gear driven and if the IP drive shaft seal goes, it will dupm diesel in to your crankcase. Nice thing about these units is that parts are readily available from Nissan dealerships in Canada. PM if you want to learn more from an owner of a Safari before buying.

Just found out that this rig is sold. Actually found out because someone starting posing questions about their new Safari on the patrol4x4.com and put 2 & 2 together and got the poster to confirm it equaled 4.

Now here is the rant:

Vendors should let people know when they sell something they have offered up on MUD - especially the pros.

Second, it is apparent from the buyers questions on the Patrol forum that he didn't even get a translated owners manual, a shop manual or an overview of the basic maintenance requirements - not even an in-line heater? Given the asking price, I would have expected better.

IMO - that stinks. But I guess no matter what you pay it is buyer beware.

What a gem, it looks almost new. I drove one of this, a 95 3 months ago. Very smooth and quite yet powerful TD. Not like a ford diesel which you can hear a mile away! Is like you are driving a gasser, it pick up right away once the pedal is pressed!!!
